Cherry Blossoms

Girl Floral Dress Cherry Blossoms
I hope you all had a wonderful Easter weekend!! I love this time of year, with Easter and Spring and General Conference all bundled together, it's such hopeful time. This weekend we were lucky enough to escape baseball and homework long enough to head up to Washington DC to go to the Cherry Blossom Festival. Thanks to the efforts of Tayler, who has been faithfully watching the blossom report for the past two weeks, we were able to see the blossoms at "peak bloom." Right after our classes ended on Thursday we were off, the car all packed and ready to go. We arrived around 7 which was perfect, everything was covered in that beautiful golden light before sunset.

^^Literally has a bite of my ear^^
I don't think of myself as a high maintenance person but since getting married I realize how much of baby I truly am. If I'm hungry or slightly uncomfortable, Tayler will hear about it. This is why we can't have kids yet, because when you have kids you have to be this superhuman positive person who puts on a happy face and says things like, "But isn't this fun?" when it's gone beyond fun and everyone is cold and miserable and hungry. I'm not at that level of maturity just yet.

Anyways, I was cold and hungry so we beat it out of there after a couple hours. We headed to Cafe Rio, my absolute favorite restaurant. In Utah it's legendary, but there are only a few out here in the east so whenever we are near DC we hit it up. When we got our burritos and settled down I started wolfing it down and Tayler looked at me in surprise and asked, "You're not going to take a picture?" Ha. Silly Tayler. Some things can't wait, and a pork burrito is one of those things.

We stayed overnight so that we could catch the sunrise the next morning. It was unfortunately overcast, but the park was less crowded than the previous night so it was nice to sit together quietly and watch families pass by. With the semester starting its steep incline towards finals and baseball winding up, it was nice to have those quiet moments to reflect on the Easter season. How lucky we are to have a Savior. There's nothing in this world we can't overcome because of Him.

  1. You look gorgeous, sis! I remember one of my friends telling me about the cherry blossom in DC. I'm so jealous, but glad I got to experience them through your pictures :)
