Better Things Ahead

Red Leaf in the Fall

Just been thinking lately. About change, specifically changing seasons. And as the leaves disappear and blow away, I'm looking around in slight horror about the fact that falls over already. Changing leaves, pumpkin patches, canyon drives, brisk hikes, candy corn, the inaugural day of sweater weather....

Fall Hike through the Forest
It's such a beautiful time of year. But I think its safe to say that I've properly welcomed and embraced Fall and all the candles and flannel that come with it. And just as tragically as summer ended, fall is on its way out too. And I wept and mourned about the passing of my favorite time of year for a few days until I realized that my next favorite time of year is on the horizon: The Holidays!

My first holiday season being a newlywed:)

We'll create whatever traditions we feel like creating. Drink cocoa every night. Build snowmen! Set up a Charlie Brown tree-because that's all our 6 foot ceilings can take- and hang wreaths. Have snowball fights and go ice skating, eat a whole roll of Tollhouse cookie dough as fast as we can and then SNUGGLE. Force Tayler to watch the Grinch and Elf so often that we'll be able to quote it word for word to each other. Mmmm:) And then sooner than we realize it'll be over too.

(Sidenote, I wish Christmas time replaced winter as a season. Then as soon as New Years ended BAM! We are onto green grass and blooming flowers.)

But alas, winter will continue for a couple more months after Christmas and then soon enough spring will be on its way, my next favorite season. Amazing. My point is, I'm realizing that whatever time we are in, there's always something to look forward to in the future. It's like an innate characteristic in all of us, to find something in the future to be excited for. And how cute is that? We're natural little optimists:)

As time goes on, favorite seasons end, years end, college ends, eras end; THINGS END but there is always something to be excited for.
