Hello Spring Break

Monday marked the first day of Spring Break for Southern Virginia University, and I'm drowning in the luxury of it. Oh spring break. You make me realize how great it is to be out of the full time work force. Life as a student is so easy. Why sure I'll just ignore all my problems and responsibilities for an entire glorious week, thanks for offering.

You just don't get that when you're in the big leagues with a 40 hour work week.

Anyways, we aren't heading off anywhere exotic because Tayler has three games this week. Like big games guys. No more preseason, we are into Conference games now. Also his parents are flying in from Utah to watch and spend the week with us, so we are so excited for that! We've never had house guests for an extended period of time so I'm not sure what I'm going to feed them, but I'll probably just end up buying every pre-made meal Costco offers and call it good. I'll let you know how that goes:)

Tayler has practice every day twice a day, so we had to squeeze in our Spring Break fun before one o'clock, which worked out great. We headed out early this morning and drove up to Blue Ridge Parkway, a scenic drive up the "mountains" (aka hills) that the locals kept telling us about.  We haven't had the chance to explore our new home too much because baseball keeps the husband pretty busy, so it was nice to have a free morning to just explore.

Note: Buena Vista is pronounced Bew-NAH Vis-TAH. Pretty much an anti-Spanish, backcountry way of pronouncing it. I always end up botching it so luckily for us non-locals, you can also get away with calling it "BV."

^^Had a run in with an aggressive flying thing. Notice that Tayler didn't come to my aid, he just laughed and documented the struggle.

We ended the date at Sweet Things, an ice-cream shop with homemade ice-cream. Drool. I usually don't like chocolate ice cream because I think it's an insult to chocolate (it doesn't even taste like chocolate?!) but this stuff was DIVINE. Essentially Nutella and Jiff plus cold creaminess. Dah. Tayler got a Heath shake but I think he regretted it once he tasted my cone. We'll definitely be going back there again.

No better way to celebrate a 75 degree day! I can now safely say, happy spring everyone!
